This student project completed in 1994 proposed a communication network for the collection and sharing of environmental and pedestrian movement data. It covered several urban blocks in central london with a system that covered thoroughfares and street corners. It speculated about the possibilities for machine learning through simple pattern recognition and its implications for an architecture with memory and selective physical responses to visitor's habits. Although completed in the 'pre-internet' age, it nonetheless incorporated a working version of the remote digital connectivity that we take for granted today. |
